Wait a minute. That doesn’t have anything to do with the conference.
We will begin the day at 8:30 am with Mass at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish on Lake Avenue in Altadena, CA.
The conference will take place about a mile away in the backyard of Gramblewood, Kendra Tierney’s historic home, at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. After registering, you will receive the exact address.
The average high temperature for Altadena in October is 83 degrees. One year it rained buckets. The two previous years we all roasted in the heat. So really, who knows? The event is held outdoors and will go on rain or shine, so please dress for the day’s weather forecast. This year we will a have a professional grade tent and misters or heaters as necessary. So basically, we will do our best, but you’ll have to take the rest up with God.
There’s no official dress code. We’ll be attending Mass together in the morning, so we encourage you to wear Sunday attire.
The conference is held outdoors on a tennis court surrounded by steps, rocky pathways, and uneven terrain. You may wish to consider your footing when selecting your shoes, but Kendra usually doesn’t.
Southern California tends to be cool in the mornings and evenings, and hot in the middle of the day. Consider dressing in layers.
Attendees will enjoy:
A continental breakfast with coffee and tea.
A delicious catered lunch of sandwiches, salads, and bread from Pasadena’s own Green Street Cafe, with iced tea, lemonade, and water.
A casual pizza dinner will take place in the backyard after the event. Your family is welcome to join us! After all, husbands and kids need friends too!
On Friday evening, there is an optional event for attendees who would like to help "underwrite," or sponsor, the Fiat Conference. You can read more about it here.
We will do our best to have allergy friendly options at lunch, but due to the size of the conference, we cannot promise to accommodate everyone. If you have a severe sensitivity or allergy, please plan to bring a bag lunch. You will have access to a refrigerator and microwave.
Yes! Babes in arms are welcome. We’ll have a soft mat and some baby toys set up in the corner. You are welcome to bring a stroller or bouncy seat, or even a pack n play and a baby monitor if you’d like to put baby down for a nap. Attendees will have access to a refrigerator and a microwave. There are quiet places available for nursing if you prefer, but table-nursing is mostly how we roll.
Daughters fourteen and up are welcome to register and join us at the conference. We ask that other kids wait until the pizza party after the conference and join us there.
The conference is an event for women, but we hope your husband (or fiance or boyfriend) will join us at the pizza party in the evening to meet some other good Catholic dudes.
This is a Catholic event, but non-Catholic women are welcome to join us! If you have questions about how non-Catholics can attend Mass, please let us know. We’re more than happy to talk you through it.
Not exactly, but we hope you’ll come anyway!
The event is held at a historic home. There are a few stairs that lead up to the tennis court where the stage and the tables will be, and there are some uneven pathways leading to the lunch area and the bathrooms. However, we do NOT want that to keep anyone from attending. We’d be happy to make sure you and any mobility devices make it up to the tennis court, and we can bring the party to you from there.
Underwriter is a fancy way of saying "sponsor." In order to keep the cost of our even reasonable and provide for the comfort of our guests, we are hosting the Underwriters' Dinner, an optional event that will be held the evening before the conference. All proceeds from this dinner will pay for the tent and restroom facilities.
So... you're welcome. 😉
(And thank you for considering supporting it!)
